Eric Chenaux – Dull Lights

Eric and I have crossed paths a number of times over the years. He’s no longer the dready punk of Phleg Camp who dated a girl in my first year English class. He’s grown up and I see him riding his bike around town sporting a beard and professorial glasses. His music has grown up too, grown old and weathered, but not in a bad way. Just as the certainties of youth inspire emphatic musical outbursts, the uncertainties of encroaching middle age makes for tentative music that dips into the depths of all your pasts – a little improv, a little folk, a little noise, a little darkness and a little light. It makes for a wise album. (Terence Dick)
