Electric Eye

I have to admit that this little black and white zine was a guilty pleasure of mine. Sure, Electric Eye is lewd, crude and really quite horribly drawn (just shy of stick figures), but the comedy is actually original. This comic succeeds because it doesn’t strive to teach any sort of moral lesson or any type of lesson at all for that matter. In fact, I believe my brain cells might have been better off if I had done twenty whip-its in a row instead of reading the contents of this comic. For example, the cover features three people: one guy with three eyes, two noses and two mouths standing and thrusting his pelvis out, showing off a glowing erection; the second guy is simply in the corner puking; and a third guy is dancing in a shirt, tie and no pants (his flaccid dick hanging out) while shooting two guns into the air. One of my favourite scene is of a well-hung Superman teaching two punk kids how to dine-n-dash (eating at a restaurant and then leaving before you pay the bill). I would definitely read this zine again as long as my brain cells hold up. (Adam Vaughn)
