Effigy

Effigy is an expanding, stylish zine exploring the universe of industrial, techno, noise, ambient, and hardcore music. The content is typical fare, mostly being interviews and reviews, but the effort that has been put into it is immense. Frank, strongly penned reviews with impact and humour make this a crucial publication for fans of the genre. Check out Jeremy Pfohl’s interview with Marc Heal of Cubanate. Heal preens and carries on about how he wants his work to make a difference and declares that the newest “Interference” album is brilliance. No mere fan-boy is Pfohl, who evaluates the album as a piece of shit. This sort of honesty is rare at the best of times, but Effigy is packed with it. (DF)
