Sometimes funny and sometimes sad, all of Patrick’s stories have a compelling realness about them and the cherubic-looking characters can provide a counterbalance to some of the more unsettling scenes, like the untimely disappearance of Mew the kitten and Patrick’s realization of her grandmother’s increasing frailty.
