This is a fairly unassuming alternative Christian zine. They look for people in their community who are Christian, involved in interesting projects, and aren’t about conversion or evangelical zeal. The two interviews were both interesting. Gerald Fast runs a well known progressive Christian rock show called Spin 180 and he tells us about marketing Christian alternative radio shows and the politics/spiritual structure behind his work. Mike Alexander is a Winnipeg hardcore band dude, and the interview with him was also political, but not religious. The fact that he doesn’t seem to be particularly Christian shows that diggings is not limited to exploring variations on only one theme. This is a pretty interesting first effort, hopefully they can sustain their vision while continuing to offer up the indie scene in Manitoba.
