Regardless of any other redeeming qualities to be found in The Magazine of Arts and Technology one can say this: at least it’s not Shift. Other than that, one hopes to remain more skeptical than the writers in Cyberstage on the issue of technological art — otherwise loosely known as geek-art. Still, there is some decent stuff in here — a future concepts discussion with Catherine Bush proves to be an unlikely highlight. The interview with the head of the Ontario Arts Council, Paul Hoffert, however, was boring and unfocused. Hoffert gives us lot’s of talk but no real substance; in light of current developments, the piece is basically irrelevant. Cyberstage needs to get out of the geewhiz stage and give their readers a more critical look at the whole Cyberstooge phenomenon. The future can’t be this boring.
