Crosspatch

Teen girl media magnate Michelle Cross drops one of her most community oriented projects yet: a distribution service for zines and tapes from parts unknown. She requests master copies and dupes them at home. The range of music to be heard covers such little known genres as dork pop, bootleg jail jams, wimpstrumentals and basement punk. One tape is described as “all alone with a Casiotone.” The zines lean toward DIY, teen-made stuff. I wouldn’t insult her by calling her the Conrad Black of the underground but she’s got her fingers in a lot of pots. Check out her other zine, Adversaria (reviewed above). Also in this ish, you can find dialogue from the 1997 Generous Margins Small Press Fair, interviews with Robin Bougie and R. Seth Friedman, and some pics to put faces to those names. (TD)
