Critical Mass

Well, basically what you’ve got here is a collection of undergrad communication theory essays, courtesy of six undergrad communication theory students at Simon Fraser University and one of their professors. Long posts-modern about information revolution versus information evolution, advertising and society, “The Politics and Nostalgia of Lo-Fi,” a Theorist of the Month feature (Harold Innis last time I checked) and more McLuhan references than you could shake a B.A. at. There’s other interesting stuff like news clips on the Canadian communications industry, book reviews, and of course, the obligatory list of links to other sites. Not a bad site to check out if you’re into that sort of thing, as long as you can overlook the somewhat self-conscious I’ma- hip-young-intellectual tone seeping through most of the prose. They even got course credit for it.
