Clamor

To quote their bio sheet, Clamor seeks to bring its “underground writing to a larger audience of young politically active and socially aware individuals who are bored by dry, leftist magazines that speak to an older generation, and who are turned off by impersonal, corporate lifestyle magazines that try to create and influence our cultures instead of simply celebrating it.” Clamor is divided into politics, people, media, sex & relationships, food, travel and culture, and each section is a good read. Issues broached include the WTO, Internet privacy (why does Mickey Mouse have more privacy rights that you?), an interview with historian Howard Zinn about the retelling of our past, two photo essays, and articles about tracking down urban legends and the politics behind your cup of java. Lots of content. Advertising kept to a minimum. Two thumbs up. (PC)
