Chaotic Heart

Chaotic Heart is a mini collage zine with the usual handwritten and type-written text that reads something like a diary: tales of struggling with inspiration, the beauty myth and recountings of some dreams Star has had. The problem is, it looks and reads like so many other zines that I’ve encountered before. Have zine aesthetics become cliche? The writing is honest, and direct, yet it’s all been said before. Maybe if Star spent a little more time with each of the issues she is trying to tackle, rather than giving them each a page or two of attention. She barely scratches the surface, and leaves no room for in-depth analysis. If only she dug deeper and spent some more time mulling over the subjects, then this could be a really good zine.
