Checking in to say that CD is Canada’s premiere source for progressive non-Toronto-centric news and political views “for people who want to change the world”. The issue in my hands covers wide-ranging topics like media concentration in the electronic age, new age neo-Nazis, genetic engineering and the perpetuation of poverty through charity. There’s also the usual melee of book/music/film/website reviews, opposing responses to statements made by public figures, and poetry on the theme of dislocation and marginalization. The opinions expressed are accessible, thought-provoking and clear. Somehow, I feel comforted just knowing that CD is being sold alongside People and Newsweek. There’s still hope for the little guys in this world! Oh, the union’s inspiration, through the workers’ blood shall flow, there shall be no power greater, anywhere beneath the sun…(EPW)
