Broom

From the infamous creator of Zeitgeist the Canary comes another offbeat zine. Instead of a name, this one comes with a drawing of a broom on the cover. Crude captions have been typed on top of stock photos from old mainstream magazines depicting average mom and pop situations. I search for deeper meaning. What is L Morrissette really trying to say in the one where the fifties woman’s touching a wall or a curtain and saying: “Why, you’re right. It does feel like grandma.” Perhaps it’s a statement about the perversity of family values or maybe it’s about the absurdity of our society’s morays about what is and isn’t correct to say. Dunno. Whatever it is, it’s worth a few cheap laughs. (Emily Pohl-Weary)
