Briarpatch

The little blurb on the inside front cover pretty much spells out what this magazine is all about: “Briarpatch is Saskatchewan’s independent…newsmagazine committed to building a socialist democratic society.” In other words there are a lot of articles about workers, the NDP, and the left wing scene. Probably the most interesting article for me was “No Pasaran” about the Mackenzie_Papineau battalion of the Spanish Civil War. Maybe it’s the rebel in me but I feel that there needs to be a lot more said about these unknown Canadian heroes. Praise goes out to Briarpatch for bringing this little piece of history to the forefront. (DP)
