Black Lodge

There’s some pretty funny stuff in Black Lodge, a not-overly-serious, rambunctious collection of prose, poems, comics and snippets that could be either or neither of the aforementioned categories. Kudos to Teri Appelman for her comics, both of which send up the London subculture and introduce us to such luminaries as Orgy Couple and Naked Poet. I also got a laugh out of Kevin Hehir’s poem Meringue which starts off “I want to be a case study” and features such classic directives as “plug in my brain and post my dreams on the Web”. Brazil meets a Southern Ontario college town and go figure it makes for good reading. (HN)
