Finally, a goth zine that’s entertaining to read! Mike Tymochko, illustrator and creator, puts together a weighty, art-filled zine dedicated to the humorous examination of various elements of goth culture. Included in issue 2 is a rumination on Halloween, a fan-based history of non-lewd pinup art, and a brief examination of sleep disorders and the medical conditions behind them. Of much greater interest, however, are Mike’s own illustrations, combining the classicism of ’40s pinup art with the modern goth sensibility, producing animesque characters that are…ooh, they’re sexy! Mike filled the review copy of “Bedridden” with all kinds of other extras as well, including a “goth nightclub boardgame” that’s sincerely fun to play, and various full-size posters of his pinup art. All in all, a treasure of a zine within a pile of so-so ones for review this issue. Nice work, Mike! (JP)
