Barefoot

This earth-friendly zine provides its audience with a multitude of opinion essays on topics ranging from Buddhism, GM foods, green economics, and the spirituality of trance. The writing, mostly done by Lindsay, is good, intelligent and insightful. Most notable is Lindsay’s opening manifesto, where she lays out an alternative path to saving the environment. The art is great, especially Michelle Laporte’s “The Last Tree”, and “Become a Police Officer” by JUSTICE. I was a little turned off by Roger Rathebe’s poetry, as it was overly explicit in its intentions and meaning with lines like; “A big rat race out there/For the big bags of stench/Full of hazardous wastes/Headed for our lakes and rivers.” There is an intimate and funny review done by Moon Howler on a new earth loving feminine product. My favorite piece is Lindsay’s “Come Unto the Grass: The Teachings of Trance Music.” It’s both powerful and beautiful. I too attended the same trance party near the Bon Head town, and feel that through her words Lindsay has captured the intensity of the music and the overall emotions that lingered in the air that weekend. She writes: “The time to dance is here and now…We listen to the birds, the sound of the grass. We long for the past, and are creating the future.” (Audrey Gagnon)

  1. First of all I would like to say wonderful blog! I had a quick question that
I’d like to ask if you don’t mind. I was curious to find out how you center yourself and clear your head
before writing. I have had a tough time clearing my thoughts
in getting my ideas out. I truly do take pleasure
in writing however it just seems like the first 10 to 15 minutes are usually wasted just trying to figure out how to begin. Any recommendations or hints?
    Kudos!

  2. Hello there! This is kind of off topic but I need some guidance from an established blog.
Is it very difficult to set up your own blog? I’m not very techincal
but I can figure things out pretty fast. I’m thinking about making my own but I’m not sure where to begin.
Do you have any tips or suggestions? With thanks
