Animal Lover

My first thought upon receiving my copy of Animal Lover was something along the lines of “OMG, it’s a colouring book!” Now, it quickly became obvious that it was simply a collection of line drawings of various animals, but even so it would make a wonderful colouring book for anyone so inclined. This is a beautiful collection, filled with variety, motion and the disconcerting frisson of the ordinary and mundane meeting the comical and fantastic. Not enough can be said about the movement some of the images seemed capable of–truly breathtaking in some cases. It’s delightful and engaging as a portfolio, but it certainly would have benefitted from a bit more guidance for the casual reader. Now, if you’ll excuse me, I need to find some crayons. (J.
