…And Darkness Falls

For some reason I thought this was going to be a really dark and nasty bit of zineness. The opening editorial bears its atheist teeth and sets an appropriately goth tone. Then several pages of well-rendered sci-fi/goth illustrations of vampirish people (mostly women), skeletons and a comic or two accompany poetry, mini-articles (mostly humorous) and a piece on why Sanctuary is a worthy hangout. By the time you get to the great illustration which helps assert the excellence of (the movie) A Clockwork Orange, ya sorta feel like this dark and nasty zinester is really the boy next door. Hard to put a finger on, but there’s a levity here that busts away at whatever stereotype you’ve got in your head and whatever darkness was going fall.
