Thursday March 28, 8pm, Geek Slam, The Boat, 158 Augusta, $5

In this two-round slam for geeks and geek allies, petry must be on whatever you geek about, whatever makes you geeky. From sci-fi to cooking to video games to your weird love of Dexter. Featuring the amazing talents of Chicago’s Robbie Q! Robbie is the co-founder and curator for The Encyclopedia Show, a live literary variety show being staged independently in over ten cities around the world.

Saturday March 30, 7pm, Toronto Poetry Slam Semifinals, The Drake Hotel, 1150 Queen Street West, $5, all ages

Eight poets compete for the finals on April 20. The competing poets are: Kliggy, White Noise Machine, Emilee Nimetz, Will of Peace, Philosofly, Ida Sophia, Macer and Valentino Assenza.

Saturday March 30, 10pm, Subspace: Tentacle Porn Fetish Ball, The Great Hall, 1087 Queen Street West, $10 before midnight/$20 after

Holy shit, dude. This is a giant party featuring tentacle porn videos (and if you don’t know what tentacle porn is, do not Google at your office – highly NSFW) and there’s a tentacle porn costume and prop contest, which I am dying over right now, and you are also encouraged to dress in sexy hentai fetish wear and win a prize. There are also sexy gothy DJs and vendors and I’m sure loads of other crazy shit. No photography because duh.

Wednesday March 27, 9pm, Montreal Strip Spelling Bee, Theatre Ste. Catherine, 264 Ste. Catherine Est, $10

See smart and sexy folks spell out insanely hard words and take their clothes off. It rules.

Thursday March 28, 7pm, Saleema Nawaz Bone and Bread Launch, Librarie Drawn and Quarterly, 211 Bernard Ouest

It’s a book launch and reading by Saleema Nawaz. Featuring a conversation with Saleema and Drew Nelles, Editor in Chief of Maisonneuve, and a performance by Mile End’s Monday Night Choir. The event will begin at Le Dépanneur café (206 Rue Bernard Ouest) with the choir performance from 7:00-7:30 p.m. and then continue across the street at Librairie Drawn & Quarterly.

EDMONTON

Thursday March 28, 7:30pm, AV Art Show #8, The Artery, 9535 Jasper Avenue, $8 adv/$12

Cellos, drums and live art from a ton of participants. Come have a fun night bouncing between multiple venues.
