Tuesday December 4, 4-7pm, Heartbeats: The IZZAT Project Comic Book Launch, Art Gallery of Ontario, 317 Dundas Street West, free

Celebrate the launch of Heartbeats — a comic book written by South Asian young women in Toronto (the IZZAT Collective) about resiliency in the face of family violence. There’s a hands-on illustration workshop with Selena Wong from 4:00–5:30 with launch and performances from 5:30–7:00, showcasing visual art, dance, theatre, and poetry by South Asian women. There will be theatre, dance, spoken word, poetry, music and a theatrical exploration by the Subtle Vigilance Collective.

Thursday December 6, 8pm, Taddle Creek’s 15th Anniversary, No One Writes to the Colonel, 460 College

Celebrate the mag’s 15th bday and special giant issue launch. With readings by Tony Burgess, Chris Chambers, Alexandra Leggat, Jessica Westhead, and Zoe Whittall.

Reinterpretations of Walt Disney films, themes and iconnography through video art.

Saturday December 8, 10:30pm, Shotgun Wedding, Dovercourt House, 805 Dovercourt Road, $7 with gift, $10 without

Shotgun Wedding takes everything you love about weddings – the drinking, the dancing, the cake, the fabulous outfits, and don’t forget the awkward and hilarious speeches! – and takes out everything you hate……including the tradition! Hosted by Reverend Sinmonger from Canada’s longest running burlesque troupe Skin Tight Outta Sight, and featuring vows from special surprise guests. With all your favorite wedding jams from all eras and genres courtesy of Sigourney Beaver, Some Random Tall Guy and DJ Tighten Up.  NOTE: if you bring a gift-wrapped present, you only pay $7 for cover, and receive someone else’s present when you leave – it’s your wedding day, after all. $10 cover for those who show up empty handed.

City of Craft is both an alliance of community arts organizers that present and support local crafty activities and Toronto’s largest independently run juried craft sale featuring craft-based installations, free workshops, and craft-related programming in local businesses and galleries. USINE 106U is happy to convey you to the book launch of 106U#9 (80 pages of images and silent adult comics narratives with a linocut print on wood as a cover) and to the opening of the grandiose exhibition CELEBRATION presenting the artwork of 30 visual artists.

About 400 exhibitors display their latest creations at the most important exhibition/sale by professional craftsperson in Canada. Since 1955, this annual event proposes to its many visitors various fashion shows, demonstrations and entertainment.
