Help Make the Bookmobile Book!

From 2001-2005, a group of pals drove “a six-wheeled rig with books in tow” across the U.S. and Canada. They called their little convoy ” Projet Mobilivre” (Bookmobile Project). They shared their wares, gave talks and workshops and collaborated with talented creators all across the country. Now they’re planning to immortalize this once-in-a-lifetime experience – and inspire others to make similar leaps – by publishing a book about it. And you can help them do it.

The book will feature comics, photos, tour guide diaries, books and zines shared and created during the Bookmobile’s tenure, and other stuff from various contributors. The goal of $20,000 will go towards printing costs, designer and writer’s fees, and design and editing fees.

The perks are myriad. Myriad!  Besides getting a copy of the actual book ($35) you can get patches, a grab bag of zines from Microcosm, a thank you credit in the book, and for $500 or more, you can have a copy of the bookmobile book donated to a library of you  Plus for $250 or more, they’re offering special, gorgeous book jackets specifically for the Kickstarter, featuring unique designs . Here are what some of them look like (by Amy Lockhart,  and Peter Burr). So beautiful!
