Found On The Internet: DIY Halloween Edition!

Hi guys! We are slowly lurching back to normalcy post-Canzine. As it happens, it is Halloween this weekend and as usual the costume situation is a little dire (I see a last minute Value Village trip in my future and it’s making me as queasy as the pea-soup vomiting scene in the Exorcist.) That being said, in this age of the Internet it is easier than ever to find amazing DIY costume and makeup tutorials presented by talented creators who know what it’s like putting a last-minute look together on a budget.

For this special edition of Found on the Internet I thought I would share some personal favorites. Good luck.

The Creepy Doll Face

This young lady does a step-by-step surprisingly low-maintenance tutorial on how to turn your face into a terrifying doll’s – complete with giant creepy eyes and a stitched-together mouth.

The Creepy Cheshire Cat

This two-part Cheshire Cat tutorial is amazing. A friend of mine did it last year with great success. Once you have the face, the costume can be as simple or as complex as you choose to make it – you can cut up some striped tights, wear a striped shirt, make your own tail, etc etc.

The Creepy Anime Character

Here’s how to make giant anime eyeballs that truly pop once your eyes are closed. This shit gives me nightmares. Very simple and effective.

DIY Zombie Guts

This article teaches a proven and reliable method of zombie gut-making using stockings and jello.

DIY Headless Bride

Everyone loves the Instructables Halloween section, and each year I look at the website’s Halloween Hall of Fame (sometimes for ideas, but mostly to marvel at the intricacy and cleverness of the costume/makeup ideas.) This headless bride tutorial is a little more labour-intensive than some of the other suggestions I’ve posted, but it’s actually not that difficult to do – this maker put the costume together using lots of duct tape, paper mache and stuff she found around her kitchen. Clever and awesome.

  1. Hey there I am so glad I found your weblog, I really found you by
error, while I was looking on Bing for something else, Regardless I am here now and would just like
to say cheers for a marvelous post and a all round entertaining blog (I also love the theme/design), I don’t have time
to look over it all at the minute but I have book-marked
it and also included your RSS feeds, so when I have time I will be
back to read more, Please do keep up the
    excellent work.

  2. I’ve been surfing on-line greater than 3 hours as of late,
but I by no means found any fascinating article like yours.

It is lovely value sufficient for me. In my view,
if all webmasters and bloggers made excellent content as you did,
the net will likely be a lot more helpful than ever before.

  3. You really make it seem really easy together with your presentation but I find this matter to be really something which I believe I’d never understand.
It sort of feels too complex and extremely broad for me.
I’m looking ahead for your next submit, I’ll try to get the
    dangle of it!

  4. I don’t know whether it’s just me or if perhaps everybody else encountering issues with your website.
It appears as though some of the written text on your posts are running off the
screen. Can somebody else please comment and let me know if
this is happening to them as well? This might be a issue with my browser
because I’ve had this happen before. Many thanks

  5. I am really impressed along with your writing talents and also with the format for your weblog.
Is that this a paid topic or did you customize it your self?
Either way stay up the nice quality writing, it is uncommon to see a nice blog like this one nowadays..
