Comic Review: Cats of Felicia

Cats of Felicia: Part 1

Comic zine, Ami Moore, amillustration.com, $6

catsAmi Moore’s all black and white comic zine pairs mysterious themes with adorable cats in Part 1 of the series. The red-haired protagonist travels to visit a family friend, finding funky happenings in the old forest behind her old house. Moore uses clean lines and generous shading, flipping between tight character shots and wide landscape views. The scenery is beautiful, functioning to increase the depth and breath of the story. It is reminiscent of European hills, whereas the forest is drawn tight and spooky. Moore builds anticipation and tells a great story – the proof is in the fact that after I finished Part 1 I went right out and ordered Part 2! (CJ Blennerhassett)
