Canzine West Portraits: Bananas Are Zine

Want to laugh or be laughed at? Be taken on a path of adventurous humour?

We present to you issue #5 of Bananas Are Zine: hot off the press and fully baked, a collection of small works by artist Laura Perry. Somewhat psychedelic and ranging between cartoonish line drawings to elaborate illustrations, Laura’s work is grounded in weird hyperreal pop culture symbology and casual mythical creatures. Inspired by comics but not quite narrative, Bananas Are is a trip.

Alison Lang is the editor of Broken Pencil Magazine. She also writes about music and horror for a number of publications, including the Quill & Quire, Exclaim! and Rue Morgue, and has lectured on Satanic cults in cinema for The Black Museum lecture series in Toronto. She loves dogs, doom metal and karaoke and makes a mean motherfuckin' rice pilaf.
