Canzine Portraits: Eunice Luk

Meet Eunice Luk, a Toronto-based artist, tabling at this year’s Toronto Canzine, whose work extends across many platforms under the press name of Fantasy Camp. From illustrating to printmaking to bookbinding, Luk’s love for do-it-yourself techniques is evident in every hand-bound release, many of which will be on sale this coming Sunday.

We asked Eunice why she make zines:
“I make books and zines because they are the best platform for me to present what I really love in a form that could be shared with everyone experiencing the book – from turning the pages, to feeling the paper it is printed on. I value the tactile quality of a good book; which is why I want to make beautiful books that act not only as publications but art objects as well. From conceptualizing, designing to printing and binding – every step is personal and embodies the artist’s hand. I want to share this with people I meet and hopefully inspire them to rely on their own craft to create something beautiful.”
