Vancouver’s Kevin Chong is the author of four books, including his acclaimed debut Baroque-a-Nova and the travelogue Neil Young Nation. His new novel from Arsenal Pulp is titled Beauty Plus Pity. The west coast editor for Joyland, he’s also written extensively for The Walrus and The Globe and Mail.

Hal Niedzviecki is the author of eight books including the recently released collection of short stories Look Down, This is Where it Must Have Happened and the nonfiction book The Peep Diaries: How We’re Learning to Love Watching Ourselves and Our Neighbors. His writing has appeared in New York Times Magazine, Playboy, Utne Reader, The Globe and Mail, National Post, Toronto Life, The Walrus, Geist, and This Magazine.

Kathryn Mockler is the author of Onion Man and teaches poetry and screenwriting at the University of Western Ontario. Her films have been broadcast on TMN, Movieola, and Bravo and have screened at numerous festivals. Originally from London, Ontario, she now resides in Toronto.

Host Brian Joseph Davis is the co-founder of the literary website Joyland. His short stories have been collected recently in Ronald Reagan, My Father and included in Against Expression: An anthology of conceptual writing (Northwestern University Press). He’s written for Utne, The Globe and Mail and The Believer (forthcoming). He lives in Brooklyn.

  8. I am new to developing internet sites and I was wondering if having your website title related to your content really that important? I see your title, “brokenpencil » Blog Archive » Reading night with Kevin Chong, Hal Niedzviecki, Kathryn Mockler ” does appear to be spot on with what your website is about however, I prefer to keep my title less content descriptive and based more around site branding. Would you think this is a good idea or bad idea? Any assistance would be greatly valued.
