Artist in Residence:

Hey Come Inside!

By Ryan Ringer

Get set to mark your calendars, people! May 28 marks the start of Hey Come Inside: Project 165’s first open house event of 2010. For this very special gig, we're transforming our studios and common spaces - kitchen and washroom included - into temporary exhibition sites and inviting the public come inside for a unique look-see. The show features recent drawing, painting, installation, video, performance art, photography and other projects by studio artists and volunteers of Project 165.

(I'm super excited to be bringing back a very special performance of my own, the Free Psychic Reading Series: an investigation of intuition, extrasensory potential and people-reading. I don't pretend to see into the future. I simply use my powers of perception and conversational agility to open a dialogue with people who seek clarity in their personal lives.)

The weekend-long program will also feature an eclectic mix of musical performances. To name just two: The super-cute indie-folk duo Dog is Blue will charm your pants off with their special brand of jangly, sweet instrumentals and day-dreamy poetics, while the 80s-flashback electropop of Jace Tracz will surely send you flying back to the future of fun in a flurry of weirdo lyrics and flamboyant theatrics.

Drop by, meet some people, support some great work and discover one of Toronto's most unique DIY artist-run spaces.
